Dan Abnett, Know No Fear: Another Horus Heresy novel, recounting the Battle of Calth (well-known to Warhammer 40k grognards, but pretty much new to me). To date the Horus Heresy books have fallen into three categories. Me, I'm currently hard at work on Know No Fear, the story of the Battle of Calth, for the Horus Heresy series. Know No Fear is particularly hi-octane Combat SF, as it depicts a significant battle in the Horus Heresy (which is basically the Warhammer universe's creation myth). The basic synopsis of this work is: “When war comes to Calth and sets the planet aflame, the Ultramarines face annihilation against a foe who will use any means to settle their bitter grudge”. Over on the Games Workshop website someone thoroughly nice put up an extract of Dan Abnett's forth coming Kniw No Fear from the Horus Heresy series. If not I definately recomend it, its about the battle of calth, Ultramarines vs Word Bearers 100k+ ultramarines are butchered, its incredibly epic. I'm going to hold off on any (or almost any ) Horus Heresy collecting until they reach the Battle of Calth. Warhammer 40,000 to celebrate the eagerly anticipated Horus Heresy novel by Dan Abnett, Know No Fear. There's no doubt though that Abnett's coverage of the event ensures that the battle of Calth is worth that mention. It's inspired,as I'm sure most will gather quite readily, by the latest addition to the Horus Heresy book series, Dan Abnett's Know No Fear, the tale describing one of the major events of the Heresy, the Battle of Calth. (Extract here.) The story in the book takes place around the invasion of the Ultramar sector and the battle for Calth. I was mega excited about this novel, finally the Ultramarines would get some Horus Heresy loving properly. Reading 'Know No Fear' has lead me to believe me that Guilliman is the only Primarch that I really like.
